BEACH
Craig Litten, a noted local photographer says: “In Florida, the streets are the beaches.” He is correct. The beach is where the action is; hereabouts, mostly Siesta Key. I’ve seen proposals, weddings, baptisms, biking, volleyball, football, yoga, dancing, capoeira martial arts, windsurfing, flying, surfing, evangelizing, protesting, and veteran memorial sunset flag raising. We usually park ourselves under a beach umbrella near the water line and I unobtrusively photograph passersby. The ideal time is late afternoon as the air cools off and the sun begins to set. Then virtually everyone becomes a sunset photographer and I stroll around photographing the photographers. We quietly leave before the sun touches the horizon to avoid traffic.
