Miami Fashion District, Legs

Her legs were so obviously her principal asset that when editing, I dispensed with her head and torso.

Now that I have your attention, those really were the longest legs I’d ever seen, accentuated as they were by her high heels and micro mini skirt. That she was in a fashion district is hinted at by the sleek black background, the pair of men’s leather shoes behind her and the spiffy mannequin in the window. I was not alone in focusing on her legs. Look carefully at the cards in her hand. As I initially suspected, she is probably a model, and her legs are her calling card.

The motionless mannequin, wearing a red shirt, red bag and dark shades is dressed to catch the eye and sell wares. The subject, too. With her exceptional legs, she’s an effective walking advertisement for her wares.

Henri Cartier Bresson spoke about photography being all being luck. Others have too. Yes, and yet for me, the fact that she is carrying her cards in a way that those legs can be seen, is just a tiny bit miraculous. It’s that extra small detail that completes the narrative and elevates the photo to something special.
